This week I am in da Yoop! I am staying at the Chamberlin’s Ol’ Forest Inn in Curtis, MI. I left on Monday evening and arrive just after dark. The timing could not have been more perfect. A winter storm blew in that evening and has been in full force all day today since last night. It’s just swirling around the west coast of Michigan and the eastern U.P. Chamberlin’s is one of the best B&B’s that I’ve stayed in since my travels started in September 2012. There is a great stone fireplace, an amazing dining and bar area which is all perfectly dimly lit by twinkle lights and warm glow of the fire. The food, is as you would guess: fantastic!
The drive from Curtis today to Newberry was awesome with blowing snow and low visibility. All of the trees are dressed in white. I would have loved to pull over to get some photos but the blowing snow was not going to allow that. At times the vehicle in front of me would completely disappear in a snow squall and then reappear. Visibility would go from decent to non-existent in seconds.
The plan for Wednesday evening and Thursday is to hopefully get some snowshoeing in at Tahquamenon Falls both upper and lower falls. 🙂
